Make a matching gift box and card – Creativity Abounds Blog Hop August ’22…

One of the best things about papercrafting is that you can easily make a matching gift box and card for any occasion, at a fraction of the price it would cost you to buy in the shop. Read on to see how I made this lovely gift I made for someone who is having a tough time.

The Creativity Abounds Blog Hop Team are a group of Demonstrators from around the world who come together to bring you tutorials, blog hops and even quarterly stamp camps, all full of inspiration and ideas for your crafting.

This month our theme is ‘Anything except Christmas’, because we know not everyone is into making Christmas projects this early in the year, especially with the heat that we have been having here in the UK this month!

A handmade card and box, part of a set, with birds, tree rings and leaves, part of a set showing how to make a matching gift box and card.

To make a matching gift box and card today I decided to use the Rings of Love Designer Series Paper, which is still free with a £45 spend during August. The only stamping on these projects are the sentiments, everything else is just the paper – how fab is that – it certainly makes for some quick and simple crafting with a real punch. I just love this bird design, so beautiful.

The box is actually one of the Envelope Treat Boxes – you get 10 of these in a pack for £7.50, so they work out really reasonable per unit and would make fabulous craft fair items too. I simply wrapped the box in a piece of the paper measuring 9cm x 19.5cm (3 1/2″ x 7 3/4″)

To decorate it I fussy cut one of the tree ring images and two leaves from the other sheets of paper, and added a sentiment die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. A linen thread bow and some Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed dots and my gift is ready to give (save filling it with something personal!)

The card is almost as simple, and uses the same glorious bird design DSP. The base card is Soft Sea Foam 14.5cm x 21cm scored in half at 10.5cm (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″) and there are two mats and layers. The first mat is Crumb Cake and measures 14cm x 10cm (5 1/4″ x 4″) and the layer is Soft Sea Foam 13.5cm x 9.5cm (5″ x 3 3/4″)

The DSP measures 9cm x 12cm (3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″). Cut each piece horizontally at 4cm (1 1/2″) Here I also cut one of the tree ring images and two leaves from the other sheets of paper, and added a sentiment die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. I kept the decoration exactly the same as the box so it co-ordinated well and added a linen twine bow and some Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed dots.

I hope that this post has inspired you to make a matching gift box and card to give to a friend or loved one, and if you want more inspiration for your crafting, please do have a hop around the rest of the team, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us this month.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!
