When I first saw this colour challenge, I thought I was going to struggle, but as soon as I saw the Winterly Treetops stamp set I knew that was going to be the one for this challenge. The birds look brilliant coloured in Misty Moonlight I think, especially with the colour lifter on their bellies and heads.
I absolutely love colouring with my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, and those are exactly what I reached for to colour these gorgeous images from the Winterly Treetops stamp set. I love how clean and clear the images stamped in Memento Black Ink and that combined with the pops of colour is really effective.
I decided to use the colour lifter on the birds because the Misty Moonlight was quite dark without it, and just look at that contrast when you lighten the image. The berries are coloured with Melon Mambo and the leaves with Shaded Spruce.
I decided I wanted my branches nestled against a softly blended background, and was so pleased with how this turned out. I simply took a blending brush, some Misty Moonlight ink and gently sponged some ink, making it darker in the centre and blending out to white around the edges.
Then I took my water painter and splattered some light spots of water onto the inked background, left it for 30s and then dabbed off with a paper towel. The lifting effect is just brilliant and almost looks like snow falling!
All that was needed to finish this card was a few Misty Moonlight gems and a sentiment, from the Winterly Treetops set, stamped in the bottom right corner.
I can’t wait to see what the others have got in store for you this month, using this striking colour combo.
Thank you for stopping by, and until next time, Happy Stamping xx

Lovely, I love the blue background with splatters behind the birds. So pretty!
