How to Make an Easy Gatefold Card – Creativity Abounds Blog Hop Feb’ 2024…

This month the Creativity Abounds blog hop team are talking all things fun folds, and I have got an easy gatefold card for you today. I say easy, because this one came together so quickly, and the measurements in metric are really easy to remember! Keep reading to find out more…

The Creativity Abounds crew are a wonderful group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world who just love to share all things crafty with you. Each month we have a tutorial you can purchase (find out more below) and a blog hop. We also run three stamp camps a year, which are wonderful fun filled virtual events.

I must say I have fallen in love with this Flight and Airy DSP from the current Sale-A-Bration offering, and there are only a few days left now to get your hands on it, so if you don’t have any in your stash, now might be your time!

An easy gatefold design handmade card with floral bird images and a belly band.

I used some thick basic white card for the card base and simply cut an A4 sheet down to 14.5cm x 20cm (giving you two from one sheet). I then scored it on the long side at 5cm and 15cm to make the gatefold. If you are using imperial, cut your card to 4 1/4″ x 10″ and score at 2.5″ and 7.5″. Easy, right?

The DSP to cover the front flaps measures 14cm x 4.5cm (or 4″ x 2 1/4″) and the belly band cardstock is 25cm x 3cm (or 10″ x 1 1/4″), with a strip of DSP measuring 25cm x 2.5cm (or 10″ x 1″). Simply stick the DSP strip to the card strip and then wrap round, gluing in place, not too tight, not too loose.

The bird design on the front is fussy cut from the amazing Flight and Airy DSP, available until the end of February for FREE with a £45 purchase! I used the biggest bird design and stuck this onto a shaped die cut, this one is from the new Thoughtful Expressions dies, so pretty! I sponged a bit of Boho Blue ink onto the die cut before adding the bird just to ground it.

Then I finished the front of my card with some Irridescent gems and a simple sentiment. To decorate the inside of the card I added a Boho Blue card layer measuring 14cm x 9.5cm (4″ x 4 3/4″) and a white layer to write on measuring 13.5cm x 9cm (3 3/4″ x 4 1/2″).

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the team have in store for you this month, so many fun folds for you to get stuck in to! Please do hop around and drop a comment or two if you have the time.

Until next time, Happy Stamping! xx
