I am loving being part of this blog hop, it is so nice to have a colour challenge to play with once a month, and this is a good one, full of lots of our soon to be retired colours, as well as my favourite Gorgeous Grape.
The Color Fusers are a group of Demonstrators from around the world who join up once a month to bring you crafty inspiration using a colour challenge – I am really looking forward to seeing what everyone has made for us using these colours and I would love to see what you make if you want to share.
I made this card using the Emboss Resist Technique and the lovely (but massively underused) Enchanted Butterfly stamp set. I just love these big images for this type of technique as they show up so beautifully.
I stamped the large flower repeatedly in Versamark onto watercolour paper and then heat embossed using white heat embossing powder. I then used the challenge colours to create a multi-coloured watercolour background over the top of the flower images.
The ink won’t stick to the now embossed image, hence the name ’emboss resist technique’. If needed, you can dab off any excess ink once the paper is dry, just make sure you dab, don’t rub, otherwise you could smear the ink onto the dry background.
I really struggled to decide what to do with my background once I had made it though, and tried lots of different ideas before settling on the idea that the background is striking enough to pair simply with a sentiment. Sometimes less really is more!
I hope that you have enjoyed learning a little more about the emboss resist technique and that maybe you are inspired to have a go at it yourself. Before you do though, please do keep hopping around to see what everyone else has got in store for you, next up is the lovely Stacey Marsh…
Or if you are like me and sometimes enjoy going backwards, why not check out the fantastic Janneke Dijkstra de Jong…

I adore your card! I was on the fence about getting that set but now I must have it! Gorgeous!
Beautiful card! The heat resist technique is a stunning effect.
This is beautiful, and I agree, less is sometimes more! I think I need this stamp set!
Beautiful card as always Heather! I hadn’t even really noticed that stamp set but the flower is so pretty!
