How to Make a Masculine Themed Ocean Card…

Next month is Father’s Day here in the UK, so this month is focussing somewhat on cards for men, and here I show you how to make a masculine themed ocean card using the On the Ocean Bundle from Stampin’ Up! This is a great set for adults and children alike, and was the perfect set for this ‘For the Men’ blog hop by the Tech 4 Stampers Academy.

I find creating cards for me quite a challenge, as I know a lot of you do, too, so I tend to start with a stamp set and then straight away think of a colour combination. I am not thinking about papers or embellishments or techniques, normally, those come after, if at all.

Having a good male oriented stamp set or bundle is the first key to making masculine themed cards I think, and I must say I have noticed that I am slightly lacking in this area. I have actually decided to run a little Father’s Day promotion, and until the end of May you can get an extra 10% off any male themed stamp sets or bundles! Wahooo!

I opted for the On the Ocean bundle to play with for this card, and then set about choosing a colour combination. I really wanted to try Lost Lagoon with the sea stamp, and Smoky Slate seemed right for the clouds, Then it was just a case of deciding what colour to make the boat.

I tried stamping one in Night of Navy at first, but that didn’t work, so went for a die cut boat instead, and ink blended some Pecan Pie onto the hull and mast, and Smoky Slate onto the sails. I also die cut a skull and crossbones from Smoky Slate cardstock to add to the sails.

A small sentiment later and I call this masculine themed ocean card done!
