How to colour Rusty Robots…

Hello and welcome to my blog post all about showing you how to colour Rusty Robots using the fun Nuts & Bolts stamp set from Stampin’ Up! Firstly, my thanks to Artisan Design Team member Kim Fee for the inspiration here, I just loved how she had coloured in her robots and I wanted to share that with you all too.

There is a video tutorial showing you how I achieved this look and how I made the card, so please do have a watch if you have the time.

Making cards for men, or masculine cards, can be really hard work sometimes, so this set is just perfect I think. I made this card for my other half to say thank you for everything that he does for us.

I used three colours to colour them in; Smoky Slate, Cajun Craze Light and Pumpkin Pie Light. Oh, and the all important colour lifter! You would be surprised how many people don’t own or know how to get amazing results with their colour lifter.

The Rusty Robots are placed onto a die cut shape that has been sponged with ink. To get a two tone rusty look for this I used a dauber that had previously been used for Cajun Craze ink and used it with Smoky Slate. This gave a great effect that really tied in with the robots.

Please do have a watch of this video to see how I made the card and to see how to colour Rusty Robots, I would love to know if you have a go at this yourself…

The base of the card is ink splattered with the Stampin’ Blends Dark Smoky Slate to give a nice effect and the hearts are stamped with Smoky Slate and then partially coloured in with the same colour to just lift them off the page a little.
