From My Heart (To Yours)

Casually Crafting 'Love' Blog Hop

Hello & welcome to the second Casually Crafting Celebration Blog Hop. To kick off the new  Mini Catalogue and with Valentine's Day not too far away we have chosen the theme of Love for this hop.

The Casually Crafting Design Team are a group of independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that want to share our take on casual crafting with you all. We will be sharing what we love every 3rd Friday of each month. Make sure you check out the rest of the Design Team’s creative projects from the photo links at the end of this post.

From My Heart

The 'From My Heart' Suite seemed perfect for the theme of our hop this month so I broke out those gorgeous papers and got making. Because this is a 'suite' there are a whole host of co-ordinating products including a stamp set, two punches, ribbon, foil tins, heart doilies and the cutest little heart shaped faceted gems.

As you can see from the picture below, the possibilities really are endless when working with this range of products and because everything co-ordinates so beautifully it is ideal for the casual crafters among us. The stamps and punches also come as a bundle, for just £43, so add on something small and you can get yourself a FREE products from the sale-a-bration catalogue too.

I have made a box for a little Valentine's gift and a matching card to send to that someone special, though these products have been designed to be used all year long, whenever we want to express love to one another.

The box was made to hold a coaster that I bought for my boyfriend, from the East of India company, they do some really cute little hanging hearts too, with lovely sentiments.

To make it I used a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock measuring 6" x 6" and I scored it at 3/4" on all four sides. I also used a piece of the stunning From My Heart Speciality Designer Series Paper (£13.00) cut to 6" x 6", but I scored this at just under 3/4" on all four sides. By doing this, the box lid should fit on top of the base, we hope!

I used one of the heart doilies (£5.00) and layered on top of it a heart cut out of the Designer Series Paper with the scalloped heart punch. I stamped the word 'love' 3 times in Flirty Flamingo ink and added some of the faceted gems.

I tied some Real Red Double Stitched Satin Ribbon (£7.00) around the box and then added the topper using dimensionals.

To make the matching card I used some Real Red Cardstock and some more of that amazing Designer Series Paper to mat and layer onto a Whisper White card base. I created a smaller mat and layer to add to the front, and used some scraps of paper and ribbon to add a couple of banners to the front of it.

I used the Heartfelt stamp set to stamp my image in Flirty Flamingo before punching it out with the smaller of the two heart shaped punches. I also punched out a scalloped heart in Real Red, layered them together and popped them up on dimensionals. To finish the card off I added three of the larger faceted gems to the bottom right of the card to ad interest and balance it up.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading about how I made these projects and I hope that it inspires you to make some cards and gift boxes for yourself. Personally I love making 3D projects and have loved the chance to share this with you.
