All about Neutrals – Be Inspired Blog Hop September ’26…

Hello and welcome to the Be Inspired blog hop, where this month we plan to inspire you with ‘All about Neutrals’ – the colour family from Stampin’ Up!

Whilst I know that Autumn and Winter can be a bit dull and dreary sometimes, I wanted to celebrate the colours in our All about Neutrals colour family today, so I grabbed my Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy and Mossy Meadow, and then realised that the Welcome Noel Bundle from the Neutral Noel suite would pair perfectly with the snowy scene I was about to start making.

Firstly, I stamped the sweet collection of mini houses in Early Espresso, and die cut them with the fun hill shaped die. I did this on a piece of cardstock that was about 8cm x 14.5cm, to give me room to make some hills underneath.

To create the hills, I grabbed my Smoky Slate ink pad, a blending brush and some printer paper. I cut a wavy line in the printer paper, and then laid this on my previously die cut card with the houses. I used the blending brush to sponge some ink just above the edge of the paper – remember to keep it super light here, as snow isn’t dark grey!

Then, just slide the paper down and repeat, as many times as you would like. I gave myself three sets of hills, which I placed my trees, deer and house upon. The trees were stamped in Mossy Meadow, the house and deer in Early Espresso.

To create the background, I took a piece of Basic White Cardstock measuring 14.5cm x 10cm and blended some Misty Moonlight ink all over the top half (the bottom half will be covered up!) Once I had done this, I used the Night of Navy ink to darken the corners and edges, which makes the project come alive, and feel less flat.

To make the snow, I used our AWESOME white gel pen. I have used a lot of gel pens in my time, but this is by far the best – hands down winner. I would say it is as good as a good acrylic paint marker, but the flow is much more reliable! I simply dotted it all over the sky, it was very therapeutic!

To assemble the card I simply added the snowy backgound to a black card base, and then added the hilly snow scene on with dimensionals. The smaller trees are stuck down flat, and the large tree and house are on another set of dimensionals. A simple hand cut greeting and three stars finish off the night sky, but there was still something needed…

A little pop of glitter in the form of Shimmer Paste, on the snow hills, and I cheated by bringing in some Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends to colour the windows of the house, to make it look like the lights are on! Shhh, don’t tell anyone!
