Pretty Poinsettias – Creativity Abounds Blog Hop July ’26…

The creativity abounds blog hop team are hitting up the Christmas in July this month, and I have made a bit of a ‘wow’ card using the Pretty Poinsettias bundle from Stampin’ Up! I am not sure I will be making a whole heap of these, as there’s a lot of die cutting, but it was fun, and I love the result.

We have also welcomed the wonderful Leighsa Alport to the Creativity Abounds Crew – welcome Leighsa, we are delighted to have you join us.

I made this card using a pre-made 7″ x 7″ card blank, but all the other materials came from Stampin’ Up! I love this size card because you can use a 6″ x 6″ piece of DSP, making 8 cards from just 2 sheets. The papers I used are the A Stitched Season DSP. I wasn’t a massive fan of the quilted patterns if I am honest, but I do love the designs on the back sides of the papers, just perfect for Christmas backgrounds.

To make this card I cut all four of the poinsettia dies, and the leaf, 3 times from white card. I also cut the flower centres and 3 of the leaves from gold foil – love a bit of gold on my Christmas cards. I sponged all of the flowers with Poppy Parade ink and the leaves with Peaceful Pine ink. Don’t press too hard with the blending brush on those Pretty Poinsettias if you want the embossing to show though.

I also stamped some of the smaller leaves in Peaceful Pine ink, and fussy cut them out. You could use the dies too, but I quite like my snips. Those tiny red flowers are stamped in Poppy Parade ink, and fussy cut too. No dies for those ones sadly!

To make the flowers, layer all of the blended flowers together to create three flowers, and then stick the centres in the middle. Before glueing them together, I use my fingers to curl the petals slightly, giving the whole flower a bit of dimension.

The sentiment is stamped using Poppy Parade ink, and I used a dark Poppy Parade blend to colour in the gaps in the letters, just to make it pop a little. I fussy cut around it, layered onto some Poppy Parade card and then fussy cut round that, too. I hope you have fun with the Pretty Poinsettias if you choose to grab this bundle!

Until next time, Happy Stamping.
