Handmade Valentine’s Day Card – Tech4 Stampers Blog Hop Jan ’23…

The theme for this month’s Tech 4 Stampers blog hop is LOVE, and I wanted to make show you how to make a handmade Valentine’s Day card, one that could easily be replicated in any colour you wanted really. I actually already gave this card to my other half, not as a Valentine’s Day card but just as a ‘I appreciate you and everything that you do’ card.

I chose to make my handmade Valentine’s Day card in just red and white, keeping it really simple and in line with what we might expect from a traditional Valentine’s Day card.

Before I even had a colour scheme or design in mind, I knew I wanted to use the big heart from the Brushed Shapes Dies, as this is a new set to me and one that was sitting there unused. I just love how they can be the focal point, just simply cut from Basic White Cardstock.

To make the red centre panel, I took a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock and my Poppy Parade, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Stamp Pads, and used my blending brush to sponge the ink onto the cardstock, around the edges, getting darker and darker as I went towards to edges.

Looking at this I decided I wanted to do something else with it, so I took my water painter and splattered some water over the surface of it, then dabbed it off with some tissue paper. This removed some of the ink and left lighter ‘blobs’ all over the card.

It wasn’t enough splatter for me though, so I added some White Craft Ink from the refill onto an acrylic block and splattered that onto my card base too.

I then die cut my hearts, and some smaller hearts too, from the Cracker and Treat Box dies, and added a sentiment from the Fitting Florets stamp set, die cut using a banner from the Stylish Shapes dies. I was tempted to add some ‘bling’ but I know my other half prefers more plain and simple cards, so I fought the urge and left it as was!

I hope that you like my handmade Valentine’s Day card, and that it inspires you to get creative – why not check out the rest of the team’s blogs below, to see what else they have come up with for you on the theme of ‘love’.
