It’s been a sad few days here in the UK as we heard the news of the passing of our beloved Queen on Thursday afternoon. She served us so consistently for so many years that I think a lot of us ‘believed’ she was immortal in some way. A harsh reality hit us as we learnt that she was no longer with us, but what was immortal though was her commitment, courage, integrity and humility – qualities that will live on in her memory, I am sure.
I must say it was a tough decision whether or not to hold my YouTube live that evening, but I decided to keep going, as if anyone personified ‘continuing through adversity’ it was our dear Queen, and I was aware that many people may have needed a sense of comfort, familiarity and connection at what was a difficult time. I know I certainly did.
I decided to use the Ringed with Nature stamp set – a lovely set with lots of little elements, perfect for fussy cutting and creating a focal point scene. I wanted to keep lots of white space in this simple yet elegant card and for my live video I changed the sentiment to ‘Missing You’ in tribute to Her Majesty.
The colours I used are Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizazz, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso. A perfect pairing for a lighter Christmas card, or as some suggested this would make a fabulous new home card too. Actually, I think this card would work for so many different occasions, as the design is pretty universal really.
