The theme for this months blog hop is ‘Summer Fun’ and what better than to create a beach scene to remind us of long lazy summer days by the beach! I love the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set from Stampin’ Up! and I think this is the perfect way to show off those gorgeous shells.
The Tech 4 Stampers are a wonderful group of Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all over the world, with one thing in common. We are all learning and developing in the world of technology. But our first love is papercrafting, so we are here to share with you all some incredible designs to help inspire you on your own crafting journey.
The stamp set has a great mix of images, some are open lined like these, and some are more filled in. I stamped two sand dollars, three starfish and three small shells in Basic Grey ink and then coloured them in using my Stampin’ Blends in Crumb Cake, Balmy Blue and Flirty Flamingo. The starfish also have a little bit of Pacific Point watercolour pencil added to the tips too.
I am lucky to actually own two sand dollars, aren’t they gorgeous! My Dad picked them up for me on one of his many sailing adventures and amazingly managed to bring them back without them breaking – they are soooo delicate, I really must make a box for them!
So…How to Create a Beach Scene…
I used some simple copy paper, some ink and blending brushes to make this beach scene. All I did was tear the copy paper in half and then lay this onto my Basic White panel measuring 8.5cm x 20.5cm. Then take some Balmy Blue ink and lightly load up the blending brush before adding the ink to the top section of the card. I kept it nice and light so as to be able to blend it out to white.
Then take away the copy paper and cover as much of the blue as possible while sponging some Sahara Sand ink onto the bottom white section. This will be the sand. To make it textured, take a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend and flick some ink using the brush nib onto the Sahara Sand section, this makes it look more like sand! And that’s how to create a beach scene!
All that is left to do is to tie some linen thread around the base, fussy cut my shells and arrange them nicely, add some Soft Seafoam ‘seaweed’, stamp a sentiment in Basic Grey in the top right hand corner and add some of the most beautiful iridescent pearls ever! Phew!
I hope that you like my card and maybe I have inspired you to have a got at creating a beach scene for yourself. Why not have a hop around the rest of the team’s blog posts and see what other inspiration is out there for you. I am sure there are lots of great ideas this month!
