How to make a simple and stylish card…

Sometimes, you need a simple and stylish card, and one that doesn’t take forever to make, especially when you just want to reach out to a friend to tell them you are thinking about them. The Forever Fern stamp set is a perfect set for this type of make, because the images are so beautiful that you really don’t need all the layers and embellishments.

A Global Design Project Colour Challenge GDP #333

I wanted to play along with the Global Design Project GDP#333 this month, but when I saw the colours I must admit my heart sank a little! I am not really into greens, but when I pulled out the stamp set and got to work I was totally blown away by how well these work together!

A simple and stylish card with leaves stamped in greens and blues.

I used a Thick Basic White card base for this, and paired it with some Mint Macaron Designer Series Paper and a layer cut from Basic White Card using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I think that the stitching just adds a real level of sophistication to the cards. If you don’t have them, you can always do faux stitching though, just take a light coloured pen and draw around the edge of your cardstock.

I stamped the different leaves in all three colours and used my Cut and Emboss machine to die cut them with the co-ordinating dies. Sometimes even I put down my paper snips!

I stuck the leaves down using Tombow Multipurpose liquid glue and added a simple sentiment on a Basic White banner, with another piece of matching DSP as a strip underneath. This just adds a simplicity that complements the leaves I think. This was stuck on using dimensionals to give it a bit of height.

Three Blue Adhesive Backed Gems finish off this simple and stylish card and mean it is now ready for sending lots of love to someone in my life. Check out more amazing cards using this colour combo over on the Global Design Project blog HERE
