Handmade Christmas Gift Idea – Stamptastic Friends Blog Hop Nov ’21…

Hello and welcome to another Stamptastic Friends blog hop, where this month’s theme is ‘Nature’, a theme I have loosely followed for my handmade Christmas gift idea. I popped into the local supermarket the other day and whilst buying some chocolate for my in person classes I saw these cute cyclindrical boxes filled with salted caramel chocolate truffels… well, the idea of a kind of freeze came into my head and I just couldn’t resist.

A handmade Christmas gift idea, a decorated box of chocolates with polar bears in black and blue.

The box was a colour very similar to Balmy Blue or Pool Party, and the lid was Black, so my mind went immediately to the Arctic Bears and the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper. The trees are from the Whimsy and Wonder stamp set and the snowflakes are from So Many Snowflakes dies.

I used the ink smooshing technique with Balmy Blue ink onto Shimmery White cardstock to get a mottled look and when completely dry I cut them out using the smallest snowflake, just to add a bit of colour to the piece.

First off, I took a piece of the foiled paper, with the snowflakes on, and once cut to size I simply wrapped it around the existing box and glued the end in place.

The Polar bears and the trees are both stamped in Memento Black ink and die cut using the respective dies, I chose not to colour the bears in at all as I quite liked them just plain white. The funny shaped die is from the Polar Bear dies and is cut out from Basic White cardstock and then stuck onto the bottom of the paper. I did add a little bit of Balmy Blue ink, just to make it look a little like ice.

The lid is decorated just with a circle of Basic Black card and one of the gorgeous ‘Wonderful Snowflakes’. These are so pretty and have a matt side and a shiny side so you can choose which you want. You can even colour the matt side with some ink!

A length of Pool Party sheer ribbon tied in a bow around the lid and a few sequins really finish this piece off, oh, and not forgetting those beautiful (hmm, I may have opened this packet!) caramel truffles.

I hope that you find this Handmade Christmas Gift Idea inspiring, and think about how you can start to decorate existing gifts to make them that bit more interesting and personalised for the recipient.

If you have time, please do have a hop around and see what the rest of the crew have got lined up for you, I can’t wait to see either…

Until next time, Happy Stamping xx
