Paper Piecing – Be Inspired Blog Hop April ’26…

Hello and welcome to the Be Inspired blog hop, where this month we plan to inspire you with a technique that I haven’t used for ages, paper piecing! I just so happened to use this technique in a project recently, so for me, the timing of this couldn’t have been better!

I loved the Capturing Smiles bundle as soon as I saw it, and knew it would be just perfect for my scrapbooking – you can pair it with any other stamps and papers and it will be a great addition to your stash.

The camera itself is the part of this project that I am focusing on today, and I will share below exactly how I made it, so that you can have a go yourself – it is so much easier than you think. You can see a close up further below, too, to get a better idea of how it is put together.

To start with, I stamped the main body of the camera onto Basic White cardstock, and cut this out using the dies (or fussy cut if you prefer!) I also stamped the lower half of the camera onto patterned paper, and then just cut out the rectangular section that forms the lower part of the camera.

All you need to do next is stick this onto the one you stamped in white and, he presto, you did some paper piecing! The rest of the camera is made by stamping the middle section of the camera onto some Daffodil Delight two-toned cardstock, and cutting it out using the die – this gives you the cute cut out that looks like the view finder!

I then simply stamped the circle in black ink, and die cut it; cut the circle from the dies in white cardstock; then cut the shutter element from the die set in light Daffodil Delight again and assembled them all together (flat!) to create the whole camera. Don’t forget to stamp the cute heart in the middle too.

The finished result is so worth the little bit of effort of die cutting and assembling all the bits.
