Spring Themed Card – Tech 4 Stampers Blog Hop Mar ’23…

The theme for this month’s Tech 4 Stampers blog hop is Spring, and I really enjoyed making this Spring themed card, though I must say at the time of creating it we were feeling any but Spring like here in the UK!

I decided to use the Nested Friends bundle, mainly because it has been sat unloved on my shelf since I bought it, but also because it really is a sign of Spring for me when the birds start nest building. We are lucky to have a birds nest in our hedge, and excited to see if they come back this year.

I stamped the nest and branch in Crumb Cake ink onto Shimmery White cardstock, then used Crumb Cake and Pear Pizzazz to watercolour the image. I love using Shimmery White Cardstock for watercolouring, it takes the water beautifully and has a lovely hint of sparkle.

I coloured the bird in the same way, though this time I stamped it in Balmy Blue and coloured it in using Balmy Blue and So Saffron, a great colour combination for Spring.

To create the extra little leaves and the eggs, I watercoloured some Pear Pizzazz and Balmy Blue onto the Shimmery White cardstock, then die cut these out and added them to the nest and to the ends of the branches, too.

To make my Spring themed card, I used a really simple layout that I am seeming to really like at the moment. I used a piece of Country Gingham DSP at the top, then I added some gorgeous ribbon to join the blue and white, and added a twine bow and a few gems to finish.
