Watercolour Emboss Resist Technique…

I made these two cards using the watercolour emboss resist technique during my recent YouTube live video (8pm UK time on a Thursday if you ever want to join us!) and thought it would be nice to share them here, too, on my blog.

This is such a lovely technique, which gives a really subtle but effective background, and works beautifully with the upcoming Dainty Delight bundle and Dainty Flowers DSP available in the new Jan – Jun Mini Catalogue and out for sale to customers on the 5th Jan 2023.

The colours I used here are Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron and Blushing Bride, I just love how spring like these cards feel. I know we haven’t even had Christmas yet, but I for one am ready for a bit of that Spring feeling in my life!

The papers that I fussy cut the flowers from will be available in January and February next year, for free, with a qualifying order of £45. Basically, if you buy the stamps and the dies, you get the papers for free! They have the most gorgeous dainty flower designs, which co-ordinate beautifully with the stamp set and work really well with this watercolour emboss resist technique.

To make the wreath on the second card, I inked up half of my stamp with Versamark ink and stamped it on to watercolour cardstock. I then poured over (and threw on the floor!) my white heat embossing powder and heat set it. This plastic finish does not absorb the colour when you then add a watercolour wash, giving a resist look to the watercolour emboss resist technique!

I added some watercoloured leaves and flowers over the top of the wreath background and finished the card with an embossed sentiment and a couple of rhinestones.
