Well, who isn’t dreaming of oceans and freedom right now! For those who love the sea but don’t live near it this time could be a difficult one, so how about sending a lovely card to tell them you are thinking of them, just to say hi. Even if the recipient isn’t mad on the oceans, anchors symbolise hope, and steadfastness, something we could all use right about now!
The anchor itself is from the Sailing Home stamp set (£22) and it has the most beautifully drawn sail boats and lighthouses, along with some great nautical themed sentiments. I have just used the anchor here but there is so much more to this set. I stamped it in Night of Navy and cut it out with the co-ordinating dies too.
The base of my card is thick Whisper White, 21cm x 14.5cm, scored in half at 10.5, with a mat of Night of Navy measuring 14cm x 10cm and a layer of Whisper White 13.5cm x 9.5cm. I did all of my stamping and assembling on this Whisper White layer before affixing it to the card. I do this so that if I make a mistake that isn’t fixable, I only waste the one layer, not the whole card!
I used the Artisan Textures stamp set to stamp the fuzzy background in Smoky Slate. I have stamped twice, next to each other so that it looks like a bigger stamp than it actually is. On top of this stamp I have put some of the Silver Metallic Thread. This can be quite tricky to work with because it is so fine but it adds such a lovely hint of texture and glimmer that I think it is worth the effort! I tied some Night of Navy Baker’s Twine through the cut out loop of the anchor, to look like rope and stuck this on top of the stamp and thread with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting is from the Well Said stamp set and Well Written dies. This is a stunning double stamp set which must have a greeting for nearly every occasion and the co-ordinating dies really add a touch of class. The word friend is cut out of Silver Foil (£4.75) to match the silver thread and the small accents. The Whisper White layer for the greeting is 9.5cm x 1.7cm and the Smoky Slate mat is 9.5cm x 2.2cm. I tied some Night of Navy twine round this before sticking in near the bottom of the card on dimensionals again. I did this so that I could get the cute little ship’s wheel poking out from behind it. This cute little accent comes from the Sail Away Trinkets, (£7.50 for 20 solid metal anchors and wheels).
I finished it off with a few silver sequins and then stuck the whole layer onto the Night of Navy mat and then onto the card base.
I hope you like this card, and I hope that you are keeping well and safe. I love the detail of the wheel peeking from behind the sentiment! That’s really cute! Lovely card, Heather ☺️
