Hello and welcome to this month’s Color Fusers Blog Hop where we are working with the colours Basic Black, Pecan Pie, Mossy Meadow and Old Olive – the perfect combination for this card made with the Autumn Trees bundle. I have had a little play with watercolouring here and love how the tree itself is the star of the show.

Because we are watercolouring with this card, we need to use Staz-On ink rather than Memento ink. We need an ink that isn’t waterbased, otherwise when you add water it will react and run, not the prettiest of looks! I stamped the large tree onto watercolour paper in the Staz-On ink and then grabbed my inks and set to watercolouring.
To start with, I added a really light, watery layer of Old Olive – it needs to be watery so that it stays wet for when we add the darker colours in a minute. I painted all the areas that were leaves – be mindful that there are several areas of branches within the tree image, which we will paint later, so just leave those white for now.

While the ink is still wet, add little dabs of darker colour, starting first with the Old Olive still and then with the Mossy Meadow – just be careful not to go too dark. I have concentrated the darker areas around the bottom of each clump of leaves, as that is where the shadows would be in nature.
You’ll want to wait for the green to be completely dry before you paint the Pecan Pie on the branches and trunk, so patience will be key here – not usually my forte! Once you have painted the image and the whole thing is dry, use the co-ordinating Autumn Trees dies to cut out the image.

The card base here is Mossy Meadow, with a layer of paper from the Storybook Moments DSP pack (currently on the Last chance and reduced in the UK), but any Old Olive paper would do the trick. I then used the Textured Notes dies to cut a rectangle from the Eartherned Toned Metallic Paper (BEAUTIFUL!!) and popped a rectangle of white card measuring 11cm x 7.3cm on top of this.
The only thing left to do to finish this Autumn Trees card is layer all of the cardstock together and then add the tree front and centre with dimensionals. I added a sentiment stamped in Memento onto a scrap of white card and cut the end into a banner shape, before adding a few Adhesive Backed Metallic Gems to complement the metallic paper.
Thank you for stopping by, and until next time, Happy Stamping xx
