Humble Home Christmas Card – Creativity Abounds Blog Hop Oct’ 24…

Hello and welcome to the Creativity Abounds Blog Hop, and my Humble Home Christmas Card. We are focussing on all things holiday from the new Stampin’ Up! Sep – Dec Mini Catalogue and as soon as I saw this set I knew it was for me… a gorgeous house to colour in AND a punch? I’m sold!

There’s a bit of a divide in the Stampin’ Up! world between those who love Real Red for their Christmas makes and who loves Cherry Cobbler. I personally flit between the two each year dependent on which DSP, embellishments and ribbons we have in what colours, and this year Cherry Cobbler wins hands down. Look at that ribbon, glimmer paper and speciality foiled paper!!

I feel like I’ve gone all out Cherry Cobbler on this card though, with both my card base and mat being the same colour. To make the mat stand out I embossed it with the Forever Plaid embossing folder and used a gold paint pen to draw on some of the lines. If you don’t have one you could always use some white craft ink, or even Wink of Stella!

The DSP section is 2 1/2″ x 5″ (6.5cm x 12.5cm) and I cut it at a slanty angle. I added a strip of red glimmer paper to the top measuring 5/8″ x 2 1/2″ (1.5cm x 6.5cm) and then added this to the card base with dimensionals.

To make the focal point stand out I cut a white circle from my trusty Stitched Shapes dies and splattered some Cherry Cobbler ink using my Stampin’ Write Markers. The Humble Home stamp was stamped in Memento onto Basic White card, coloured in with Crumb Cake, Pecan Pie and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends.

I love a punch as they save SO much time, I find lining up dies a real faff and as much as I love fussy cutting it does take a while, especially when you have lots to make, like at Christmas. I added a beautiful bow tied using my new favourite ribbon, the Cherry Cobbler and Gold Satin Ribbon – how pretty is that.

All that was needed to finish this Humble Home card were some ‘Drusy’ gems (it means a natural crystal formation on a rock surface!!) and a simple sentiment. I hope you like this card and maybe have a go at recreating it for yourself. You could always keep the layout and use different sets, but if you would like to purchase this wonderful bundle you can do so using the links below.

Until next time, Happy Stamping! xx
