Christmas Home Decor – Creativity Abounds Blog Hop Sep ’22…

I love making cards, but sometimes I want to change it up and what better than a little bot of Christmas Home Decor, something that can be hung up and admired year after year. I hope you are inspired by this post to have a go at making something for your own home!

The Creativity Abounds Blog Hop Team are a group of Demonstrators from around the world who come together to bring you tutorials, blog hops and even quarterly stamp camps, all full of inspiration and ideas for your crafting.

Our theme this month is ‘anything Christmas’ leaving the doors wide open for so many stamp sets, techniques and projects. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us in the rest of the hop!

a piece of Christmas home decor - a painted wooden heart with poinsettias and foliage in red, green and gold.

I have had this wooden heart in my ‘stash’ for some time now and this little voice kept drawing me to use it for this blog hop, so out it came. It was wooden though, and needed painting – would you believe me if I said I used our re-inkers to do this???

All I did was mix several drops of Soft Succulent ink refill into some white acrylic paint to give me the most beautiful pale green colour which fitted perfectly with my colour scheme!! I was so impressed as this is the first time I have ever tried to do this and it worked perfectly, I can definitely see me doing this again!

I used the Merriest Moments stamp set (a returning favourite from last year!!), the Christmas Seasons bundle and the Holly Berry Dies to create the floral arrangement that you can see on this piece of Christmas home decor. I just love how all three work so beautifully together, despite being quite different sets.

The Poinsettias are stamped in Real Red, while the foliage is stamped in Evening Evergreen, stamped off to give a lighter effect and to tie in with the colour of the paint. Crumb Cake is the colour I used for the pine cones. The die cut foliage is cut from Gold Foil and Evening Evergreen Glimmer 12″ x 12″ Speicality Paper – easily overlooked in the Mini Catalogue!

I hope you have enjoyed reading about how I made this piece of Christmas Home Decor as much as I did making it – I can’t wait to hang it up now, though it might be a little early!! I am actually planning on making a few of these for an upcoming craft fair that I am showing at – I think they will make popular gifts.

Have a hop around the rest of the team’s posts to be inspired for your Christmas crafting, until next time, Happy Stamping!
